‘Weave- Baskets or Bands’
Represented within this piece is the traditional weaving methods of aboriginal peoples. The use of natural materials, collected on country and turned into useful and beautiful tools. Dilly bags, baskets and other forms made to carry, these items were used throughout history and continue to be used today.
The piece also represents the ways in which these were made. People, particularly women, sitting together in circles. Yarning and sharing stories as they meticulously thread back and forth the fibres.
Either side of the meeting places and baskets, are the reeds, reaching from the waters edge and moving freely with the ebbing and flowing of the water, and the soft breeze of the cleansing winds.
