Burang
‘Drought’
This artwork was created to represent drought. The desolate and dry earth crumbling under foot. Bursts of green reaching desperately for water, as it scarcely falls to the ground.
The colours were chosen to evoke thoughts of the hot, dry air we feel on Wiradjuri Country in summer, and the hot soils and sands we walk bare footed on in the heat of the afternoon. Dust between our toes, in the air. They were chosen to represent bushfire, and the ever-threatening heat of summer.
Our Country is beautiful, but in its beauty is strength, demanding respect and care; or she will turn and leave us without water- she will leave us with fire and heat.
