‘Animal’
This artwork represents the animals which live alongside aboriginal people. It represents the connectedness aboriginal people have with them and the spiritual nature in which they are treated, believed to have come from the dreamtime, not only are they a food source, but a spirit being. Animals (and some plants) are indeed forbidden to be eaten, dependent upon which totem they inherit as their spiritual emblem.
This piece represents the way in which we live alongside the animal, and how we carry out our lives living in harmony with all that is alive around us.
It shows the footprints of animals across the artwork, as they move within the spaces that we share.
