| ‘A Woman, Determined’
This artwork symbolises my daughter and her determination and independence- something I see develop within her more and more as she moves into her adolescence. From a little one who struggled to find her voice, to a fierce and strong young lady, I grow prouder each day of the person I am raising and the strength of character she holds. A brave yet gentle soul, a deep thinker but a larrikin, a beautiful yet muddy little girl, will one day be an adult- and her childhood will be but a memory. She stands over the Marrambidya Bila (Murrumbigee River) and the dry lands of her Country. Three significant hills surround her- places of ceremony in which tradition and lore is passed down. The earth at the bottom of the artwork, dry and desolate, supports the notion of her struggle and resilience. Seeds sprout life from them- the notion of each generation that has come before you, shaping who you are individually. Her ancestors represented as stars, watching and guiding from above.
